Holidays are especially rich in old traditions. There are three types of holidays in every country: state or public holidays, religious holidays and family holidays.
State holidays are typically associated with the history of the nation. Such holidays unite people and make them proud of their country. For example, in Kyrgyzstan there are several public holidays such as Constitution Day, New Year's Day, the International Women's Day, May Day, Victory Day, Independence Day and others.
People celebrate the holidays with their families and friends; they can rent a car and go on tour, or go to exhibitions or open-air events and concerts to celebrate with others.
New Year is the main family holiday. When at midnight incredible fireworks are fired on the Ala-Too square, a large number of people gather to watch the fireworks and attend the concert.
Religious holidays include Ramadan, Orozo Ait, Kurman Ait and Christmas.
